Just as people's life stories vary greatly, so do the
ways in which they want
to tell their stories.
First step in the process of chronicling your life story:
Chronicle Your Life Story begins with an initial meeting. During that meeting,
we'll discuss your background and your preferences for tailoring the process and the final
product of Chronicle Your Life Story to your specifications. For example, you may
decide that you want to emphasize a particular segment of your history, such as your family's
immigration story, instead of reviewing your entire lifetime. You may want the opportunity
to recount stories of specific family members who preceded you, or you may want to focus
on memories of raising your children. You may want to display mementos you have in your
home during the course of your interview.
Next step:
The crux of Chronicle Your Life Story is the professionally prompted interview that I design based on the information I gather from our first meeting. The interview will be
filmed by a professional videographer.
You will receive questions in advance of the interview; giving you plenty of time to review questions, gather thoughts, make any notes you might want, and collect objects and photos
you want incorporated into the film.
Finally:
There are several options for the final product. Here are just a few:
Some
people prefer to have only an unedited version of their video
interview--
a videotaped oral history.
Others wish to incorporate music,
photographs and other visuals into footage from
their interviews, to create a personal documentary or illustrated video memoir.
Still
others want to create a narrated video photo album.
