Testimonials

What do you give your parents, the people who gave you everything and need nothing, when they are celebrating 60 years of marriage?  When I heard about Chronicle Your Life Story the answer to what otherwise would have been a difficult question, was a snap.  Together with my siblings we decided to give our parents the gift of their own story, preserved forever in a highly professional package.

While my parents were hesitant to accept this perfect gift, they came around easily and warmly thanks to Naomi’s remarkable sensitivity, genuine concern for their well being and comfort, and a rare talent for drawing information even out of initially reluctant interviewees.

The finished product is, in a word, a treasure.  Sitting with my family and watching my parents watching themselves on the DVD was a memorable occasion.  And we have already watched it over and over..  Naomi’s attention to each and every detail, to the video recording, the sound, the music, the editing and even the setting was of the highest quality.  She was, first and foremost, concerned with my parents and their story.

I never imagined such a perfect outcome given the early reluctance of my mom and dad.  Today, at the end of a thoughtful process, they are deeply touched that their life story is chronicled not only for their children and their grandchildren, who have so enjoyed deep learning about the lives of their grandfather and grandmother, but also for generations yet to be.  What a gift.
Rabbi Elka Abrahamson, daughter of "chroniclers"

Naomi was able to work with a large group of cousins to help us tell our family's story. She was able to focus in on the important stories, capture the personalities of people she had never met until the taping, and make the experience fun for all. She thought of ways to include stories from cousins who could not be present for the taping. Thanks to Naomi, future generations will have a taste of what life was like for a large family in the early 1920s.

When my children first suggested I do this, I was reluctant.  I wasn't sure I had that much to say and
didn't know about being interviewed in front of a camera.  But Naomi and her videographer made
it so easy and natural.  I really enjoyed  thinking back on my life, and didn't realize that I had that
much to say.  The icing on the cake, though, was when I watched the movie with my children and grandchildren--and I saw how excited they were about it..

I'm only in my 50's, but since both of my parents recently died, I took it upon myself to chronicle our family history.  I'm so glad I did.  It brought back so many warm memories for me--and my children, nieces and nephews loved hearing the stories about their great great grandmother, great grandparents and grandparents.
B.R.D., 57 year old "chronicler"

As I remembered the details of my life, I arrived at a new appreciation of myself and my experience--
as did my children.

Watching my grandma was a very powerful emotional experience for my family and me.  I am grateful
to have this video to document this history that may otherwise have been forgotten.  I will cherish it forever.
E.T.V., 28 year old granddaughter of "chronicler"

I knew that it was important to document my grandma's history in her own words, but I never imagined how emotional it would make me.  I learned so much about her and my grandpa that I never knew,
and I look forward to enjoying it with my family for years to come.
B.T.K., 27 year old grandson of "chronicler"

Watching the video was such a moving experience for me, and so informative.  I learned new things
about my mother's past because she spoke about things I hadn't thought to ask her.
